Virtual NLS-Graphy for Colorectal Cancer and Polyp Screening

This study evaluated the effectiveness of virtual NLS-graphy as a screening tool for colorectal cancer and adenomatous polyps in 548 patients.
The technology successfully detected a wide range of colorectal lesions, including 21 cases of colorectal cancer and hundreds of adenomatous polyps, some as small as 2 mm.
By combining three-dimensional imaging, virtual colonoscopy, and spectral-entropic analysis, NLS provided detailed visualization of intestinal tumors and their characteristics.
The method also identified lesions in areas that were difficult or impossible to reach with conventional colonoscopy, leading to additional cancer detections.
Researchers reported high diagnostic performance, with a sensitivity of 98% and specificity of 89% for detecting space-occupying colorectal lesions.
The findings suggest that virtual NLS-graphy may serve as a valuable, non-invasive complementary screening method for the early detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous polyps.
