Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is a severe opportunistic infection mainly affecting immunocompromised individuals such as oncology and transplant patients.
The study evaluates the diagnostic value of nonlinear diagnostics (NLS) compared with conventional chest radiography in detecting pulmonary aspergillosis.
NLS with spectral-entropic analysis (SEA) showed high sensitivity in identifying early pulmonary changes, especially nodular and interstitial lesions.
It also improved detection of infiltrates, vascular-associated lesions, and complications such as infarction pneumonia and pleural effusion.
Radiography was less sensitive, especially in early stages, often missing subtle or initial lung abnormalities.
Overall, NLS provided earlier and more accurate diagnosis, better disease staging, and improved monitoring of treatment response and complications.
