This study evaluated the use of 3D-NLS graphy for whole-body assessment in 17 patients with metastatic brain disease originating from various primary cancers. The researchers compared 3D-NLS findings with positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to assess the spread of cancer throughout the body. According to the authors, 3D-NLS successfully identified primary tumor sites, metastatic lesions, and additional areas of disease involvement in organs such as the lungs, bones, and pelvis. The method was reported to provide rapid whole-body imaging, requiring approximately 30 minutes, while also incorporating spectral-entropy analysis to characterize pathological tissues. The study suggested that 3D-NLS demonstrated high sensitivity and could assist in monitoring treatment response and disease progression over time. The authors concluded that whole-body 3D-NLS graphy may serve as a practical screening tool for evaluating the extent of metastatic cancer in patients with brain metastases.
