This study compared 3D-NLS graphy with computed tomography (CT) for diagnosing benign tumors of the major salivary glands. A total of 143 patients were examined, including 78 cases of pleomorphic adenoma, the most common benign salivary gland tumor. The researchers reported that 3D-NLS graphy effectively visualized tumor size, structure, and vascular characteristics while distinguishing adenomas from other benign lesions through spectral-entropy analysis. CT provided detailed anatomical information, especially for large tumors and those located in deep glandular regions. Both imaging methods demonstrated high diagnostic accuracy, although CT was considered more valuable for assessing tumor extension into surrounding tissues. The study concluded that 3D-NLS graphy may be useful as an initial diagnostic imaging technique, with CT serving as a complementary tool for complex cases.
