Breast Cancer Bone Metastases

This study compared 3D NLS-graphy with conventional bone scanning for detecting skeletal metastases in breast cancer patients. Researchers evaluated 33 patients and found that NLS-graphy identified metastatic bone lesions more frequently and with higher diagnostic accuracy, particularly in the spine and pelvic bones. Unlike bone scans, NLS technology was reported to detect tumor infiltration in bone marrow before visible bone destruction occurs. The method also enabled simultaneous assessment of surrounding tissues and identification of metastases in other organs such as the liver, brain, and lungs. Advanced techniques including ultramicroscanning and spectral-entropic analysis were used to characterize lesions and support treatment planning. The authors concluded that NLS-graphy may be a promising tool for screening and evaluating metastatic disease, especially when conventional imaging results are inconclusive.
